My teaching style varies from student to student based on playing level, musical interests, and personality. I use a mix of method books and aural learning techniques. The student's musical priorities always come first! I have been playing music my whole life. I began playing piano at six years old, saxophone at ten, bass guitar at thirteen, and guitar at fourteen. Throughout my high school career I played a variety of rock band gigs on guitar, bass, and keyboards; I also played a variety of jazz gigs on saxophone. Currently I am a music student at William Paterson University, and am graduating this May with a degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance.

I am a firm believer that every student has a unique way of learning. Every student is different and therefore no student should be taught the same. In my classroom I intertwine the works of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence with Dewey's Constructivism to create an interactive learning environment. It is a goal of mine to allow each student to show their ability in the best manner that they can. Through the philosophy I teach by, I feel I reach each student to address their own unique abilities and skills. During the course of my studies I have come across a quote that as a teacher I live by, "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." Although I have only held my BM in Music Education for a little over a year, I have always sought out opportunities to hone my skills as a teacher. While I was still earning that degree, I was the person many of my peers approached to help them understand music theory when they were stuck. None of them failed their tests after a few extra lessons with me. Since graduating, I have been working at a special education school as a one on one aide, and I am constantly making effort to coax out the musical side of my students, often with positive and exciting results. I am a successful graduate of Susquehanna University, having earned a BA in International Studies. This study of cultural anthropology allowed me ample experience with writing, grammar, and research. I will be attending Rutgers University next year to earn a Master of Science degree in Microbiology. I am very experienced in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Math on all levels. In addition to my devotion to the sciences, I have maintained an advanced-conversational level of fluency in French and an ability in the creative arts through coursework at the collegiate level and would be able to teach those as well. I was born in the Soviet Union. At age of twelve start participating in School’s orchestra. After finishing High school I was admitted to Kiev’s Glier musical College, which I finished with distinction, and get Bachelors degree as a clarinet and saxophone player, as well as conductor of brass bands. I was a teacher in musical school and a leader in numerous small jazz bands. In 1977 me and my family immigrated to United States where I continue playing In orchestras and participates in a small quartets. At this writing I am playing clarinet in two orchestras: South River Imperial Band and Brookdale College band. I also do arrangements for small groups and full orchestras. I love teaching children. I am trying to involved student into deepest secrets of musical sounds. I am pation with students, but I am promoting a good behavior, chalanging environment and appropriate disciplin.
