In college I was a nanny to three middle school students for two years. While being their nanny I was also their tutor in all subjects but focused on math. I graduated from SJSU with a major in History and a minor in Mathematics. I substitute taught in January and February 2007 then was a long-term substitute from March until the end of May in a sixth grade math, science, and history combination class. For the past two years I have taught eighth grade Algebra. While teaching I have also tutored a sixth grade student in math.
I believe there are multiple learning styles. One of my goals as a teacher is to find each students' learning style and teach to fit their needs. I believe that practice makes perfect but also that learning needs to be fun. I set the bar high for my students and do my best to help motivate them to reach a high standard.

I truly enjoy teaching and working with all levels of math learners. I was blessed to have great math teachers in my education that transferred their passion for the subject on to me. Many students are very apprehensive when they enter math classes because the concepts seem so foreign. I feel the most important thing when it comes to math tutoring is being able to break down mathematical concepts in easy to understand terms so that students are not overwhelmed.
