I have been working with young children since 2005. I started as a pre-school teacher with ages 3-5. For the past five years I have worked as an elementary school Teacher's Assistant. It was there when I got the most of my experience in classroom management and actually how to teach all children with different learning styles. I worked with grades second, pre-K, fifth, and first. I just recently graduated from Jackson State Unversity and I am currently teaching for HCHRA-Project Head Start. My classroom consists of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. When I have "tutored" fellow colleagues and students in the past, I have learned that one must be creative in their teaching so that every person can learn in their own way. During my four years at Millsaps, I gained much more than my degree. I learned how to take vast amounts of information and structure it in a way that allowed me to memorize and retain it. To exit Millsaps College, it is necessary to take an exit exam which is comprehensive. Because of this, I am an authority on the subject of biology. I graduated from Delta State University in 1999. My degree was in Biology Education. I began teaching high school science at that time. I am licensed to teach grades 7-12 in the state of Mississippi. The classes I have taught are Science Skills & Reasoning, Biology I & II, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Physical Science, and Chemistry. I currently work at Oakly Training School where I teach all sciences ranging from middle school to G.E.D.
I pride myself on being the type of teacher who teaches not only subject matter, but life skills. I come into contact with children on a daily basis who are deeply troubled. It is my job to remind them that they are not doomed for life, but that they can rise above their current circumstances and become whatever they choose. I love science and always have.
