I am currently teaching preschool part-time. I served in the military, having scored an ASVAB of 99 and received an Army Achievement Medal in Florida for my role in the development of a state-wide curriculum geared towards drug education.

Having taught in the elementary and clear up through 8th grade, I am aware of different learning styles and attempt to do what I can to use a variety of teaching strategies. I feel I can attempt to find the math learning gaps with a student and go forward with them enhancing their math skills. I have 31 + yrs of teaching experience, retired in 2015. I taught 3rd grade, and 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade math. I am presently tutoring math at NCMC in Trenton, MO in Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra. I also have done some HISET teaching and Upward Bound. My current maximum hrs of 550 hrs of teaching from the Retirement System keeps me from doing the latter two because I am mostly focusing on NCMC tutoring. I am clearly interested in doing some private math tutoring.

In 2000 I volunteered in the local high school's journalism class because of my passion for writing. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. In 2005 I began teaching annual writing workshops at Simpson College for 6th - 12th grade students. In 2006 I attended substitute teacher training, and I began substitute teaching in 2009. I also had the privilege of instructing college students in a Volunteer Income Tax site this year. I am firm, fair, and friendly. I adapt lessons to the student's learning style, bearing in mind what the student needs for success in the classroom. I make learning fun.
