A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1973, I decided that I would enter the field of public education. After 6 years of successful and rewarding experiences in secondary education, I decided to return to college and obtain a Masters Degree in Education. Upon receiving my Masters in 1984, I taught at the post secondary level in both Virginia and North Carolina. At the post secondary level, I had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of subjects from Math to Business Administration.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching students at various ages and stages of development. I consider myself to be very creative, and I try to give the students as much hands-on experience as possible. I love teaching and helping others, especially children. I believe that there are "no stupid questions" and that all children can learn. I think that one of my best qualities is "patience" with others. I am a firm believer in teaching by example. I like to share my personal experiences of working hard and overcoming obstacles. I truly beleive that every child can do anything that they "put their mind to". I love to instill in children my enthusiasm for constantly learning new things.

I graduated from Liberty University in May 2009 with a BS in Accounting. I am currently and have been a substitute teacher in Bedford County for the 2009-2010 school year. I have substituted for grades 6-12. I have been a football coach at Liberty High School for 3 years and I have been a track & field coach at Liberty High School for 5 years. I have helped different types of students away from school in various subjects. I love math and I am in the process of completing the requirements to gain a teaching license to teach high school math.
I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless.
