I have lots and lots of experience with reading and writing to share! I have 30 + years of experience with composition - legal writing, high school and college composition, MLA and APA formatting, legal citations, and the elements of creative writing. I recently received an M.Ed. and Literacy Certificate from my alma mater, Regis University, and I am eager to share all of the knowledge and experience I have gained with your students. When I tutor students, I make sure they come away with better reading and writing skills and hopefully are more excited about learning! A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring the children over the last two years has been the most rewarding work for me. When a middle school child actually gets up, goes and gets a dictionary, and looks up the meaning, pronunciation, and spelling of a word, without having direction from me, it makes my heart sing. Never have I had that feeling before, therefore it is my goal to continue to provide any child with the best tools, a positive mindset, and forward ambition to achieve the best opportunities in life that only an education can give them. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies I have maintained an A average. I have been considered to be very intelligent, professional, and a great leader to my peers during my schooling as well. Although I have only tutored a couple of students during my education, they both did considerably better on their exams after my tutoring.

As a graduate student, I worked as a tutor in the campus Writing Center. Later, just before graduating, I taught Writing, ESL and GED at the Denver County Jail. Since completing my degree, I became a Writing and Critical Thinking Professor for two separate Universities (Metro State College and Devry University), where I've been for almost nine years.
I think learning should be fun. If a student doesn't enjoy what she is doing, she won't likely attain mastery of the discipline. My philosophy of teaching is that a teacher should let students discover solutions in their own way. A teacher is someone who is there just to lead them in the right direction. It is rarely a good thing for a teacher to just provide an answer because often times this is of no help to the student. A teacher must read and understand where a student is coming from in order to ask the right questions and sometimes give answers so that the students can come to their own conclusions without being given too much information.
