My comments on tutoring World History : World History paper editing, understanding timelines and culture.

I assess the student's level of mastery by listening to parents, communicating with the student (in whatever appropriate way needed) and then doing some basic testing. Once the student is assessed, I design a learning environment and activities that coincide with the student's specific strengths, while adding some elements of challenge. I tend to work in a very focused way for 10-15 minutes, and then add in tactile activities (like Bannana Grams for example) for 10 minutes or so, in order to maintain the student's attention. Academic Learning to Standards and Beyond!

University of California-Berkeley graduate in individual major titled "Diplomacies to End the Division of Europe-1949-1990." My "teaching style" changes depending on the needs of my students. In all cases, an initial assessment of both the academic level and the temperament of each student are necessary before I establish a particular style. Some students are comfortable with a quieter, more formal tutor, while others are successful with a more casual, animated tutor. In every situation, I look for opportunities to give positive reinforcement.
