My comments on tutoring Elementary : I have taught with the Oklahoma Public School system for 25 years, so I'm very well trained to teach the five pillars of Reading: Phonics: Phonemic Awareness, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension and Writing. If your child is struggling in passing the DIBELs-Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Learning, the BEAR-Basic Early Assessments of Reading or Literacy First Test requirements at their school. I can be a tremendous help to your child. I have been interventionist for a number of years and have had much success with my students in helping them to become competent in all areas which helps their competencies across the curriculum. Reading is the one subject that is incorporated into all subjects!
I spend a lot of time teaching small group interventions which focuses on the Reading Sufficiency criteria that is mandated by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. I have also worked with many Gifted and Talented students preparing them for Writing Contests. My passion is encouraging students to look forward to the Core Curriculum Test. In the past I have been given the opportunity to teach Art and Writing and mnay of my students have produced Writing Portfolios of which they are extremely proud!
