I am very patient and I make sure the student thoroughly understands a topic before moving on. I motivate the student to succeed and teach good study skills and test taking skills. Normally, I use the student's textbooks and classroom materials during our lessons. For standardized tests, I use prep books, such as Princeton Review. After that practice is absolutely necessary: repetition IS the mother of learning. For children all this has to be presented in an accessible way.
