My comments on tutoring Speaking : I have been teaching basic skills (reading, writing, oral communication) for 30 years. I have tutored high school and college students, as well as political candidates, with regard to public speaking. I have served as a speech writer on several occasions, for politicians and college presidents. I am patient and understanding.

In my experience, the majority of students are highly motivated. This is, for me, the key to success. However, very often, students require assistance with a wide range of ‘remediation’ in many of life’s basic competencies: a skill set that includes such issues as time management, test taking, study habits, and, sometimes, acculturation. From then, I continued tutoring elementary school students with a wide range of abilities. A few of my students were gifted, and we worked on sharpening their already existing skills.
