A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently the Sixth Grade History Teacher at Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School. My responsibilities at WCCS include developing rigorous objectives for the Sixth Grade History curriculum. Moreover, I serve as a Special Education Guided Reading Instructor for eight, Sixth grade students. I have experience working with children with learning differences both in and out of the classroom setting. In addition, I served as Co-Director of Bear Buddies in Brunswick, ME. for three years. I will fit my teaching to the client. If a student learns with visuals, I will use visuals. If a student is an aural learner, I will cater to that side. I am very flexible and take direction very well. I have taken a year or more of each language I am qualified to tutor. The languages are Italian, French, German, Spanish and Latin. I also lived in Italy for a couple of months, in the Northern region. So I have real world experience speaking the language.
I have recently graduated from Purchase College with an Undergraduate degree in Music with a minor in English. My teaching experience was when I was in practice as a psychiatrist. I served as a preceptor to residents in the Family Practice residence program, St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE, for about five years in the 1980s. I would apply that experience to the teaching of French, and Russian
I would assess and teach high school and college-level students with a conversational method. This would help identify the areas of deficiency. I would also supplement this with reading and writing. Whatever texts the student would have from their institution would be the basic source of course planning. Supplemental reading needs might then also be identified and assigned.
