I am a 6th grade teacher at a public school in NJ. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in all elementary and middle school subjects. I offer tutoring in grades 3 - 8 for both remediation and enrichment. I'm also experienced with preparing adults for the teaching certification and nursing school exams. Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! Creative Writing is my passion. I love to teach Creative Writing, because just as in composition, you learn about the student's style and imagination. I am EXTREMELY detailed when it comes to a student's piece of writing. I teach English under the notion that writing could always get better. I focus on starting small and helping the student develop on their own. For example, when I teach how to write a strong essay, we write many drafts of an introduction. Then, we write many drafts of body paragraphs. Last, we would focus on writing a conclusion. Then, by working seperately on all of an essay's parts, the combined product is much stronger. The art of teaching is similiar to building a house: you start with an idea, then a foundation, and finally the framework.
I volunteered at the Ocean County Library writing center for four years and helped my peers construct, organize, and layout essays. I also proofread, edited, and helped in the creative process of their essays.
