Certified Teacher Tutoring

I am a 6th grade teacher at a public school in NJ. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in all elementary and middle school subjects. I offer tutoring in grades 3 - 8 for both remediation and enrichment. I'm also experienced with preparing adults for the teaching certification and nursing school exams. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I have been teaching writing for 30 years at LaGuardia Community College, in NYC. I have helped many students from around the world to express themselves in the English language. I am patient and understanding.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! Creative Writing is my passion. I love to teach Creative Writing, because just as in composition, you learn about the student's style and imagination. I am EXTREMELY detailed when it comes to a student's piece of writing. I teach English under the notion that writing could always get better. I am certified in NJ as "Teacher of English", and can work with student from Emergent Writing to Collegiate Writing.

Students best learn by doing, by experiencing, and from a variety of experiences that incorporate their five senses. Students learn with different paces and styles. A Little Bit About Me...

I volunteered at the Ocean County Library writing center for four years and helped my peers construct, organize, and layout essays. I also proofread, edited, and helped in the creative process of their essays. I am curreently working part-time at Ocean County Library (Lakewood Branch) tutoring k-12 students after school in the S.M.A.R.T kids program.
I focus on starting small and helping the student develop on their own. For example, when I teach how to write a strong essay, we write many drafts of an introduction. Then, we write many drafts of body paragraphs. Last, we would focus on writing a conclusion. Then, by working seperately on all of an essay's parts, the combined product is much stronger. The art of teaching is similiar to building a house: you start with an idea, then a foundation, and finally the framework.
