My passion for education blossomed while volunteering as a tutor with Somali refugee children in Pittsburgh, PA during college. I worked with families in their homes to develop English reading, writing, and speaking skills. After graduating with a B.A. in History and Political Science I joined Teach For America, where I taught first grade for two years and substitute taught pre-kindergarten through fifth grade for one year. I currently tutor for ASVAB, Algebra, and Chinese Language. I have been private tutoring for almost 2 years. My major was in Human Development & Family Studies and minor in Human Nutrition & Food. I was a tutor with Harris County Juvenile Detention Center back in 1995 for Summer Enrichment Program. I was an intern with Harris County Juvenuile Probation Department. I was a Mentor with Houston Community College for Students with Learning Disablities. During the last two years, I have dedicated myself tutoring students in Algebra and ASVAB.
