A Little Bit About Me...

Since I'm not a teacher and don't follow a schedule or have designated hours, I feel like I can be a lot more patient and easy going with students. I'd like to pride myself in how well I can take a complex idea and break it down into its sub-parts and explain it simplistically. I have a very hands on approach to teaching. I would first explain how the problem is answered, then explain why it is answered in that fashion. I believe it is important to understand the why a problem is answered because then they can start to understand a little more about the keys to accounting. I would then help them with different problems in order for them to fully grasp the concept.

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. A Little Bit About Me...

During my time as a tutor I've learned a variety of teaching styles. I've worked with kindergartners and employed an animated, high energy style to capture their attention and keep them motivated. For older students I use a type of Socratic method where instead of answering questions for them, I work with students by requiring them to answer questions so they can lead themselves to the right answer. I feel this method not only allows a student to develop confidence, it teaches them to rely on their own processes to develop answers.
