I have gone through a lot of different experiences throughout life, and I'm more than happy to help and share those experiences if you'd allow me. I started playing piano at a very young age (7 years old) and afterwards started to pick up other instruments along the way which resulted in all county for Tuba (3rd chair 2010) and in that same year becoming a drum major. I've learned much about music theory, as well as keeping up with every other course I selected while in school. I have experience in the military and with that comes a level of professionalism that can easily be seen once eyes are set upon me. Before the military I was an intern for many different jobs at MacDill AFB and that simply added to my knowledge including theater, and how to help other unlock their hidden potential for drama! I have earned a BA in Language Arts, but also hold a passion for math as well. I have excellent reading and writing skills, and am familiar with the Georgia CRCT testing. I have had experience teaching all subject areas to first grade students for four years, and have also taught prekindergarten for eight months.

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

I started tutoring in different after-school programs in New York City while in high school. I enjoyed it so much that even while in college, I continued tutoring and being a group counselor. I even had the opportunity to work with a one-on-one tutoring agency in which I traveled to students homes to help them privately. I began teaching in the Valdosta City School System also being a reading teacher for students with problems. Gwinnett County School System (1974-1990). I conducted workshops on teaching reading and writing to Kdg.-1st graders. I received inservice training classes in writing, reading, and mentoring young teachers.
