PhD Physics, able to tutor in science, math, engineering

I was a senior scientist - engineer for 37 years. I retired to care for my comatose wife at home, and she died a few months later. This situation has left me open to new directions. My teaching experience has been 3 years as a graduate teaching assistant, and 2 years as a tutor to friends and family in science and mathematics. My goal is to show how math and science can enrich one's life and these subjects are nothing to fear.
I follow the method of G. Polya in his classic work "How to Solve It". By asking the right questions, one can help the student define his problem, form a plan for the solution, carry out the plan, and examine the result. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate from Washington State University and I'm currently looking for employment in the Greater Seattle area. I have a degree in General Mathematics and enjoy helping others understand the material. I will work well with high school and younger students because they would not see me as another teacher because I will treat them as an equal and not a student. I've taught in a Preschool classroom at my church for 1 year, and I've been a substitute teacher for the 2nd grade classroom at my church for 2 years. I've homeschooled two children for the past 11 years, and I've spent two years as a math instructor at a homeschool co-op. I've also worked as a tutor for Eastern Washington University's Computer Sciene Department for 2 years, and I've mentored several co-workers in software development over the past 28 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I just graduated from PLU with a degree in Business, a concentration in human resources, and a minor in psychology. I maintained a high GPA throughout my college experience and graduated with honors. I have very good study skills and am very organized. I took a variety of classes and excelled in writing papers and test preparation. I have never tutored children but have given children riding lessons and have helped 4-H children learn horsemanship skills. I consider myself very patient and a good teacher.
