Extensive use of Excel and Access since 1996. Retired from executive position in 2010 and tested for certification in Access. Now I tutor part time and work with volunteer organizations including Red Cross, Gwinnett Senior Services and Rainbow Village. I currently serve as data manager for the Orange Duffel Bag Foundation.
Tutor part time to keep my skills up. I am retired so my schedule is flexible given a few days notice.

I use positive motivation with my students, explaining how subject matter being covered should relate to them and their future successes. I try to link the subjects with current events and how lack of knowledge on specific subjects can cost them either financially or impact their health and well being. For example, when I encounter a senior who is not participating in class, I give them an employment application to fill out, explaining if they have difficulty completing it, they better join the class.

A Little Bit About Me...

My training in Law School allowed me to be proficient in writing, as well as my practice, which included writing various legal documents including briefs and motions. As such writing and grammar are areas in which I excel. Additionally before Law School, I served as the Director of an Adult Education Program. In that capacity, I created the curriculum for the program whose focus was Reading Comprehension, Social Studies, Language Arts, Vocabulary Building and Spelling. Moreover, I am fluent in French and I have privately tutored individuals.
I understand that individuals' learning styles vary. As such, I try to adapt my teaching method to the individual with whom I am working. Generally, however, I combine using visual, auditory, as well as written tools to teach my students.
