I have historically been a sketch artist. This talent led to me into graphic design for advertising. I later majored in advertising and worked several internships and practicums with a variety of ad agencies and publication, including Southern Living. Over half of my 24-year is comprised of creative management positions. Recently, I decided to get back into higher education to earn my Masters degree in graphic design.

My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : Creating publications for print or for online delivery using InDesign or Publisher

I have been in the field of education for 10+ years. I taught Computer Science courses that included Web Design and New Media, Desktop Publishing and Computer Graphics. I like building my own computer since the ones I see on the retail are not powerful enough for my own purposes. I have designed websites and managed the websites including the one of the school where I previously worked. Managing it means doing some tweaking of the HTML codes and the CSS. I do a lot of Graphics and photo editing since I also shoot a lot of pictures. I Have design posters, logos, and animations for web ads. I keep learning new stuff since technology keeps on advancing and evolving.

My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : I have worked with publishing programs since 1990 with large publishing companies.

I work normally in groups to mentor staff/clients or students to understand the importance of great design through typography and quality design using basic programs like pagemaker through to InDesign. Individual one-on-one is preferable as I can dedicate my time to bring out the creative expressions. Professional design can make the difference by setting you apart from the competition. I have informally tutored people of various age ranges in the subjects, physics and math , for a period that ranges over about three years . I have taught younger relatives as well as helped people informally on online tutoring message boards with math and physics problems. I have also been paid to assist students in how to operate the basic commands of computational mathematical software for three years as well.
I would be glad to work with students of all ages, but I prefer to work with a student individually rather than work with students in a group. From both my experience of being an informal tutor and being tutored, I find that students general prefer this style of tutoring because the tutor can both focus and better access their student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular academic subject they are having difficulty with.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with all levels of learners. While in college I tutored a high school student who was hearing impaired. Although it was challenging, I found his progress to be rewarding in the end.
