Experience Summary
All students can learn. Some just need a little more practice until they can consistently perform the task without assistance. I assist in teaching at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I have been supporting student’s academics for over 8 years. My experience with students expands from pre-kindergarten to the 8th grade. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in history. In addition to that, I have studied two years of elementary Spanish. I currently supply aid in a 4th grade class room setting with pupils who struggle in reading, writing and math. With my guidance, students practice reading phonics, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. In math they practice spatial relationships and number sense. I receive instruction from the lead teacher as to what the child is struggling with and work on that. Typically, I direct the focus on the child’s growth towards a meaningful goal. I give feedback to students as well as teachers and parents. I pull learners one by one, or I work with learners in small groups. With my assistance, students have gone up in reading levels. Students will set goals no matter how small and reach them. I let students know that showing growth is a good sign even though they have not yet reached their goal.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with students who need to see visuals in reading and who need to have hands on experience in math.
My Hobbies
