As a teacher, I find that the best way to reach students is to relate what we are learning to everyday life. For example, I teach the gas laws using the chemistry of popcorn and conservation of mechanical energy using roller coaster design. I want my students to understand that science is everywhere and it is fun! When I am working one on one with a student, I spend the first few sessions assessing their level, ability, and learning style and adapt to him or her.
