I have been teaching for over 17 years. Being very versatile, I have taught English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Computers, Art, and preschool. I started out teaching preschool and loved it. Then I went to a private Christian school (teaching completely for volunteer pay). From there, I decided that I love to help people learn. I went back to school. Students still will recognize me and I know that I made a difference in their life. It is a great reward to know that at that point in their life, I was supposed to be there.
I believe in individual learning styles and matching the teaching technique to the learning style. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is important to learn how to capitalize on the strengths and build up the weakness.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm passionate about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. With my degree in geology and experiences in technology and computer arenas, I'm capable of guiding inquiry on such subjects. In addition to traditional teaching, mentoring, and volunteering from grade school computer labs to adult geology field trips, I've also coached teams such as Odyssey of the Mind (at all levels 3rd through 11th grade). My career has also taken me through technical writing, finance, and project management experiences from which many practical skills have emerged.

Communication has always been an interest of mine so I pursued a journalism degree and spent many hours in education to be an adept communicator through the written word. I also enjoy the person-to-person communication that is involved with the journalism profession. I have expanded my skills and knowledge through pursuing a creative arts career, as well. In college, I was taught to organize topics in Math, Science and English, using outlines. This ensured that I studied all of the material presented in class. During my career, I use the same method to grasp difficult concepts. As a technical advisor, I shared my knowledge with clients, answering questions and solving problems.
