Holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, I tutored in a math lab during the summer of my college years and later went into the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe to teach math and science to high school level students. I have also worked as a civil engineer and have directly applied my civil engineering degree in designing grading and utility plans for commercial developments. As a female working in a male dominated field I feel strongly about supporting young girls in pursing their dreams just as equally as young boys. I like being a role model to younger generations and hope that some day there is not such an imbalance in certain areas of study such as the math and sciences.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a teacher at heart and many of the students and other professionals in my classes have said that I should change professions. I approach teaching as a process of understanding why certain activities or processes are required to get an answer. I treat all computer/math/study activities/problems in a way that students understand the logic of the steps taken. I stress the “breaking down” of a problem into its component parts is an integral part of life, not just math, accounting or other school assignments.
