I believe in individual learning styles and matching the teaching technique to the learning style. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is important to learn how to capitalize on the strengths and build up the weakness.
I have been teaching for over 17 years. Being very versatile, I have taught English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Computers, Art, and preschool. I started out teaching preschool and loved it. Then I went to a private Christian school (teaching completely for volunteer pay). From there, I decided that I love to help people learn. I went back to school. Students still will recognize me and I know that I made a difference in their life. It is a great reward to know that at that point in their life, I was supposed to be there.

The degree I completed was a Liberal Arts Degree with an emphasis in Philosophy and Minors in English, Spanish and Music. I feel that this type of a degree gives an individual a well rounded and inclusive outlook regarding many subjects, whether it be Math, History, Reading, Science, Music and/or Art. After graduating from St Joseph High School in Santa Maria I attended Hancock College with an Early Childhood Degree Major. I have 48 units from Hancock with 13 units of ECS.I was teaching as a preschool teacher for a private preschool while being a student. Years later I became a Classified Substitute/Temporary Educational Assistant for the Medford,Oregon School District for 6 yrs. I then became a Permanent Classified Campus Monitor and Educational Assistant as needed in the classrooms for 2yrs.During some of that time I have assisted the Special Ed teachers with students with slower learning abilities.I have assisted with acelerator reading programs and other testings on computers.I also assisted in the library and office duties.

I have taught and tutored hundreds of children while substitute teaching. I have found that my style is one which tries to involve the student in the learning process as much as possible. I love using volunteers to read aloud and participate in the learning process.
