My experience ranges over a span of 22 years as a Preschool/Pre-K Teacher, Preschool Asst. Director, YMCA After School Site Director, After School Tutor, Elementary School Instructional Aide, Sign Language Interpreter, Special Ed. Tutor. I earned an AA degree in Liberal Studies, a certificate in Sign Language and earned a BA degree in Psychology.
I have known since I was 5 years old that I wanted to teach and work with young children. I am most happy in a classroom atmosphere and believe children learn best through variety of techniques and mediums. My philosophy has and continues to be that all things are possible with a good education and that learning occurs best when given many types of hands on (Discovery) experiences and a positive learning environment. I love what I do for a living. I love teaching and coaching and have always wanted to be a teacher. I believe all childeren can learn given the opportunity. I believe students have their own unique intelligences and learning styles. My role as a teacher/ coach is to identify those intelligences and styles and deliver subject's content using strategies that support those intellegeneces and styles. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an educator for over 10 years. I have taught elementary for 5 years, high school for 2 years, tutored for 3 years and am currently working as a substitute teacher/tutor. During this time I have taught English, Science, Reading , Language Arts, History, Greek, Hebrew, Spanish, and Math. I currently tutor Math, Reading and English for students from Elementary to High School. I have tutored Algebra, Geometry and Pre-Algebra. My area of education and experience is working with students who are difficult learners, ADD, English is Second Language or struggling with a particular subject and helping them to reach their goals.

If necessary, I separate an idea into simpler terms, and help students learn each term before continuing. I give examples which illustrate a point or demonstrate a procedure. At times, my students write short essays, which I critique for sentence structure, word choice, tense matching, and organization. When a student is reading aloud, I follow along, interjecting if necessary with the correct pronunciation or the proper syllable emphasis.

I have always been driven to learn and pursue and education, this led me to completing my bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in history from UC- San Diego. I enjoyed tutoring math, science and english while in high school and continued in college. After graduating I volunteered in Chile teaching English which greatly improved my teaching skills and improved my Spanish Language abilities.
