In high school I helped tutor younger children. My freshmen year of college I volunteered as a tutor at Ely Chapman. I am currently a teaching assistant for an Anatomy lab. All of my experience has been one-on-one tutoring and I typically take a hands on approach to learning. I graduated from college with certification to teach grades 1-12. Do to the job market at that time, I was unable to get a full time teaching job. I substituted and then tutored for 2 years. I then worked various jobs working with the public. Although much of work experience is not in the teaching field, I have worked with people in many ways to reach their full potential and can relate to them on a level that they will comprehend. I believe in using a multi- modality approach to teaching. The more senses involved, the more likely one will remember. I also believe in trying to make material needed to learn to seem approachable or pertinent in their lives.(No matter the age) Anyone can learn if it is presented in a way that makes it exciting and fun. I have 2 Years of teaching First Aid/ CPR/ AED at the American Red Cross. I also have 1 quarter of tutoring physics at Washington State Community College. I also instruct Pet CPR/First Aid for the American Red Cross. This is especially fulfilling when watching children learn that there is something they can do to help save their injured or sick pet. Though, it has taken me many years to complete my degree, I believe this proves that persistance and perseverance pays off in the end, and that one is never too old to learn. I have a degree in both Elementary and Special Education with a concentration in History. In the past nine years, I have taught Kindergarten for seven years and fifth grade for two years. I have taught Summer School in Math and Reading. I have tutored Junior High and High School students in Math, Science, History, and English. I have a passion for teaching. I love to teach children and young adults. I have always been the teacher to help the struggling students, because at one time I was that student.
