I believe everyone has the ability to learn and that this truth is one of our defining qualities as humans. The problem arises when we expect the human mind to work in the same way in every individual, when we attempt to use the same strategies to teach the differing learning styles. I begin with each person by learning myself. I need to know what learning style works best for that person, what has been tried in the past, and his/her successes and failures.
