My comments on tutoring Sociology : So much of being expert in any field is having the ability to teach my students to use effective study skills and learning strategies. This I can do for you although I excelled at many sociology classes in undergraduate and graduate school.

My teaching style is fun: relaxed and engaging for my students and for me too. I am serious about giving my clients the best and richest learning situation as possible. I use a modality designed just for that student and perhaps not offered at school. Since I am in a one on one setting I can ideally focus on just that one student's personal needs. I communicate clearly with all stake holders to ensure I am meeting the learner's needs and expectations. Sociology is one of my top subjects!

I have tutored children off and on since I was in high school. More recently, my time has been spent volunteering with The Giving Tree, where I tutored inner-city children after school and helped organize activities (museums, zoo, etc.) on the weekends. I am currently in the final stages of my dissertation for a doctorate in psychology, so I am always actively learning, too. My aspirations are to become a professor in higher education upon acquiring my Ph.D..
I think teaching styles should differ based on the preferred learning style of the student. The teaching style should play on the strengths and preferences of that particular student. After returning to college to get my teaching certificate I taught 5th grade for one year. I then taught at a high school in Salinas, California for four years. As an elementary teacher I taught all subjects except science.
