Life Science is one of my top subjects! I have completed coursework in all types of life sciences classes.

I completed coursework in several biology and chemistry classes. This coursework included labs and field work. The biology labs I have experience in include: Zoology, Ecology, Freshwater Biology, Insect, and Fish Biology. These labs were highly detailed and included all levels of dissections, identification of species using taxonomic keys, and microscope work. The field work included species colllection, mapping, and sample collection. Lab reports and field notes were required as part of the labs. The seminars for these courses involved all aspects of biology and life sciences. The exams for these courses were involved and would require 2-5 page essays on biological systems. I have experience in writing term(research) papers in all subjects relating to biology. I successfully maintained an A/B average in my biology courses. The chemistry coursework required for my degree started w ... read more

My teaching style is based on my belief that my purpose is that the student learn the material. If that means backtracking and presenting the material in a different manner or using more examples then that is what I will do. Especially in math and accounting, the building blocks must be solid in order to advance so I do concentrate on each step being strong.
My parents were both educators and my daughter is a professor, so I can say in all honesty that education has been a most important aspect of my life. I have been very successful as a college instructor and a tax school teacher. I do not have any tutoring experience but with my love of education and my own work ethic I know I can be instrumental in a students academic success.

I am currently attending Auburn University, I have always loved to help children learn. I have volunteered many times at my church's Vacation Bible School and have been an intern for a High school English teacher. I have always excelled in English and enjoy reading, creative writing and world literature very much. I have been a personal tutor in World History before as well.
I find that teaching children is a wonderful and life changing job. That helping a child learn any subject is easy when the teacher understands they are their for the benefit of the child not necessarily seeing it as 'work'. Each child learns differently at different paces and to maximize their potential the teacher must conform to their needs. Through understanding of what is being asked, repetitive problems/assignments to master the subject and then a brief and often review of the subject that the child is we ... read more

I enjoy teaching and working in the clinical practice performing laboratory tests and analyzing the results. I am enthralled with structures and functions of organisms and continuously intrigued with revelations of newly discovered mechanisms. I find gratification in getting a student to understand a concept being taught and in their expression of the lesson learned. My teaching experiences were acquired while obtaining my Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry and during graduate level coursework. As a college student I am still striving for my goal and dream of becoming a veterinarian. I have always been a mentor in my community and willing to help others where they need help. My favorite subjects throughout grade school include math and science, in which I have excelled in both by being placed in honor level classes throughout high school. I have tutored many students in math, science and elementary level reading.
My teaching style with younger children is to have a relaxed setting where no pressure in placed upon the student. I'm always sure to review my material before going into a new lecture. When a student is not understanding the material I try to use many methods for then to gain a better understanding. When I was younger it was easier for me to understand information if I can relate it to my life, so I will apply the same methods with teaching others.

During high school I worked as a volunteer in St. Petersburg, Florida through All Children’s Hospital. Within the Bedside Buddies Program, I was able to spend over 200 hours working with physically and mentally challenged children to maintain their grades when they were experiencing long staying in the hospital. With this experience under my belt, I pursued my degree in psychology, achieving a BS rather than a BA to exhibit my proficiency for the mathematics and sciences. Having recently graduated and taking time off before applying to graduate school, I would like to maintain my contact with the tutoring and teaching setting, and do my best to change the lives of those that I help.

A Little Bit About Me...

While I hold a Bachelor's in English, I have learned more outside of the college setting than I have in the classroom. I have over ten years experience training and tutoring. I have had the opportunity to train individuals at my place of employment. I also have experience tutoring students one-on-one in various subjects ranging from English to Science and Math. I am currently in the Communications field where the majority of my work involves writing, editing, and preparing documents for training.
My teaching style varies based on the child's needs. I am very adaptable and willing to provide the best method of learning for each individual child. I am patient and pay attention to the child's attitude and non-verbal cues to see where I need to adjust my teaching, even if that means stopping the session for that moment. I believe that I learn how to teach from the child.
