I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. During my undergraduate years, I started tutoring at the various tutoring centers on campus. I tutored science, mathematics, French, Spanish and Italian. That experience sparked my interest in teaching. At the end of my undergraduate studies, I applied and received the teaching opportunity program scholarship. A Little Bit About Me...

The best method I have found for relating mathematical and scientific concepts to students has been with a majority of examples. While explaining theory is necessary for a student to gain the basics of a concept it is only through working problems and exercises that a student truly understands the material. When teaching I would usually explain a section of material as best I could, then work through multiple examples that illustrate the material. This is then supplemented with exercises for the students to work through on their own.
