Math and Chem Tutor (MaCT)

I would like to explain a global picture of a class material, what to expect from learning the class. All of this is not to scare students, but to mentally prepare them with the challenge ahead. I like to give my student quizzes after the tutoring, just to make sure they understand. This is a feedback process, so I could adjust my tutoring style accordingly.
Have a PhD in organic chemistry. Have been teaching assistants in almost undergraduate level chemistry classes (general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry) during graduate school. Have more than 13 years tutoring experience. Paid my undergraduate college education through tutoring and scholarships. My strongest subjects are chemistry and mathematics.

I know shotcuts in math that really help students to safe time and understand the material. I created my own theory of explaning things that is not writtern in any math book. It is easy to understand for students. The most important thing is to explain math through pictures not formulas. The formulas will be understand automatically after the student understands the picture and concept. I am very patient and ready to explain as long as it takes. At the end of the section I give homework. Then we discuss homework on the next meeting.
I started doing private tutoring in math at Santa Monica College when I was a student in 2005. I had a lot of clients from different countries. I helped them with precalculus, triginometry, algebra, calculus, multiveriable calculus, linear algebra. I studied 2 years at SMC and transfered to CSULA. In 2006 I was a member of a physics club at CSULA which ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Currently just graduated with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University Long Beach. I have tutored several different courses throughout my career. Including Thermodynamics, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Mechanics of Materials, Calculus, Differential Equations and more. I had a high GPA in college and was a very hard worker. Usually the way I tutor is the student brings me homework problems or questions about a topic and I walk them through how to solve them.
I like to use a white board when I tutor, it makes it easier to solve many different problems without having to use paper. I also prefer that students bring questions and homework problems to tutor sessions that way I have a better understanding of what they need to learn.

My comments on tutoring Calculus II : Math Minor

Kids typically like me. I'm fun, but can be firm when needed. I am a creative, out of the box thinker, and will use these skills find ways to help your child understand and master the material. I am patient and caring and am motivated by my desire to make a difference in the lives of the youth I tutor.
I was a valedictorian in my high school, moved on to Fresno State on a full scholarship as a member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College. I obtained two degrees magna cum laude, one in Physics and the other in Philosophy, as well as a minor in Math. Here I tutored all levels of Calculus to college students under Fresno State's Math department for two semesters. During this time I did a variety of Physics research and obtained one journal publication. I also volunteered as a tutor in the community as an undergraduate. I subsequently joined Jesuit Volunteer Corps for a year. ... read more

I have gotten A in all of my math classes a Pasadena City College. I’m going to start studying Differential Equations in Spring which is the highest math level at PCC. I’m a math major too and I’m transferring to UCLA in the Fall. Also, I tutored at PCC in Fall 2017. I tutor all levels of math from Algebra, through 3-D Calculus, all the way to Linear Algebra.
