As a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I was interested in English education, especially in terms of helping students improving their reading and writing skills. I followed this interest by tutoring at the university writing lab, as well as doing frequent one-on-one tutor sessions with students in need. At the end of each quarter I conducted private, one-on-one counseling sessions with the goal of helping students pass Cal Poly's Graduation Writing Requirement. I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. I then transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my BA Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. Upon graduation, I began working as a Substitute Teacher for grades K-8 in Santa Maria, CA. Communication has always been an interest of mine so I pursued a journalism degree and spent many hours in education to be an adept communicator through the written word.
