I am a 2012 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and concentration in Biochemistry. I have worked as a TA for the sophomore Principles of Biology (II) course as well as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Course. I have been a tutor & academic mentor for Organic Chemistry since the summer of 2010. Additionally, I was an MCAT tutor & problem solving group leader for my University's MCAT course during the 2011-2012 year. I scored a 37R on the MCAT (PS - 14, BS - 12, V - 11) and a 2260 on the SAT ( Math 770, Verbal 730, Writing 760). If they can touch and experience what they are learning, they are much more likely to remember the key concepts they are being taught. Students also need to be shown how what they are teaching relates to the real world. All of this can be accomplished using research based methods that are proven to be effective in teaching students of all ability levels.
