My comments on tutoring Science : I always liked all sciences and in the last decade, I earned an a in every college science course I took.

I only bring what helped me earn a 4.0 at fresno state and fresno city college.
I have very little experience in tutoring. I do however, have a B.A chem degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I can bring this experience to help others achieve what I have. I really is not that hard. I just takes lots of time, dedication, and sacrifice. I do have experience working with groups of other students, and have been giving out good study advice for years. However, If time and energy is not dedicated to studies, good results will not follow.

Education is the key to success.

I have always had a passion for giving back to people. I love Math and English, In junior college I took 16 units (four classes) all dealing with english or liberal arts. I excelled in physics and biology in high school. I have a year of experience directly working with 1st - 6th grade students in an after school program.
I believe in inclusion. I find that the best way to teach someone is to make him or her appreciate the subject and apply learned topics to his or her life.

I have known that teaching is my calling since I was a Freshman in high school. Learning how everything works has always facinated me and sharing that has been equally rewarding. I believe that learning can be fun when it is relevant and interactive. Students have to be given a vested interest in the learning process, asked questions. An environment of trust in which student's inquiry is encouraged is the best way of learning. Moreover, I thing that teachers have to use complementing mediums for teaching (ie. Visual aids, sensory aids, stories, music, etc.).
I'm a senior at Fresno State, soon I will have a B.A. in History, which certifies my ability to research, analyze, and write proficiently. Besides having attained writing skills and expertise in the Social Sciences, I have continually improved my knowledge in several academic fields out of my own initiative; I have honed m ... read more

My greatest strength lies with my patience with children and flexibility to see what style of learning enables the child to best master the subject. I desire to lead children in finding the answer which will not only teach them the subject they are learning, but will enable them to reason and find the answers in other classes as well. It is simple to teach a child to memorize but to teach a child to reason will enable him to learn any subject at any age.
During my time in college, I switched to become an educator as I discovered a passion to see the lives of children transformed. During my process of gaining my BS in Physical Education, I worked with many after school programs and taught both elementary and high school during my student teaching. Since college, I have taught and worked with children and youth around the world and currently volunteer in my local community, headi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from CSU Fresno with a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Biology. Since then, I have been a substitute teacher for two months for elementary school grades k-8. For the las year I have been a substitute teacher for the Tulare Joint Union High School District. Although I have subbed for many subjects, I specialize in both math and sciences. I have subbed long term for two weeks for Calculus BC and Precalculus, long term for three weeks for Chemisty, and long term for Algebra 1 for eight weeks. I have also subbed often for Geometry and Algebra 2, and am frequently requested by the math department chair at Tulare Union.
My motto is one that I adapted from my high school, which is learn by doing. Most students aren't auditory learners, so if I simply spout off a bunch of facts or a mathematical process, then chances are they won't learn anything. After laying the foundation ... read more

I began tutoring during my senior year of high school as a favor for a family friend. I soon realized the demand for private tutoring services and began taking it more seriously. While attaining my Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry, I would frequently tutor friends who needed extra assistance. Years of laboratory experience allowed me to gain an understanding of scientific writing styles, and to expand my writing and researching techniques. After completing my university studies, I began tutoring many students from my local high in various math topics.
My teaching style can be described as casual and comfortable. Students who are having problems understanding certain concepts are better able to grasp difficult ideas when they feel they are in a comfortable environment where they are free to ask questions and discuss their problems openly. My goal is to be informative ... read more

"Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire." This quote by William Butler Yeats summarizes my philosophy of education. I love seeing students become excited about learning and becoming self-directed learners. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in the teaching field has been primarily as a substitute on a daily basis. I have some long-term sub assignments in my resume as well. For the past 7 years I have limited my assignments to "Home/Hospital". I meet 5 hours per week with each student to provide complete instruction in all subject areas for the student(s) unable to be in the regular classroom setting due to illness. It is very much a tutoring situation as 5 hours per week is not nearly enough to provide the detailed instruction available on a daily basis.
It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful. Being a 1:1 teacher allows me the freedom and time to work with a student on a concept in a number of ways until the cognition sets in for him. Being enthusiastic and excited about the learnin ... read more
