I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. Thus, I do my best to incorporate student's interests into reward systems and constantly give the student positive feedback about their progress to help motivate the student. I work hard to get to know the student and tailor tasks and activities to their particular learning style.
I write with great enthusiasm to apply for the position of Tutor. I recently graduated from Gettysburg College Magna Cum Laude earning my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. I ha ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Education, youth and adult continuing education are great passions of mine. I believe that every student has the capacity to learn and has room for improvement. I don't believe that education has to be dull and I value creative approaches to learning, all the while keeping a keen eye on the task at hand. I throughly enjoy learning each student's individual personality and strive to find ways to make material approachable, relevant and practical. Sometimes the "trick" is just to relate to what they already know and love. Key educators made a profound impact on my life and it's my simple desire to continue to do the same for others.
I place a high value on practical education. I graduated high school at the top of my class and received my AA degree just a few of months later- all while working full-time. I then obtained my BA in Organizational Management and I am now in a loca ... read more

I come from an academic family whose achievements have been in the Humanities, notably in Classics, Language, Literature, Music, and Western History. These topics have been my constant interest and source of inspiration, and I feel a calling and a duty to impart the study of the Humanities to young people today. I have a double-degree in Latin and English, a Master's Degree in English, and a Master's Degree in Librarianship. From early on I was exposed to different languages and my passion in learning and in teaching has always been around Language Arts, whether through poetry, prose, grammar, composition, spelling, vocabulary-building, etc. As a teacher of 7th-grade Latin, I was gratified when my students came to me the following year and told me that they were ahead of the rest of the class of 8th-grade Language Arts because of what they had learned from me the previous year. I have ... read more
