A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored four different children (1st-5th grade) over the course of four years for the Teton Literacy Program, a non-profit group located in Jackson, Wyoming. I met with each child after school at the facility or the local public library for hour-long sessions, working on grammar, pronunciation, and writing, focusing on each students' strengths and weaknesses and helping them catch up to their appropriate grade level as well as building their confidence. In addition, I worked on the I-CAN book project, through the Literacy Program, coaching a second grade class with the creation and assimilation of a story book.

I write with great enthusiasm to apply for the position of Tutor. I recently graduated from Gettysburg College Magna Cum Laude earning my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. I have previous experience working as a Clinician/Tutor for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, providing one-on-one instruction to students and implemented programs that provided effective treatment for dyslexia, hyperlexia, autism, and other learning disabilities. Further, I have years of experience volunteering as a tutor, instructing students of all ages (including high school) in various subjects.

I worked for six years at William King Museum, where I developed and taught art curriculum to students Pre-K through 12 and trained instructive staff in our 12 programs. I served as a traveling classroom instructor in our 14 district service area where my presentations consisted of one-half hour of historical/cultural content and one hour of hands-on art. I utilized my knowledge of literature to enhance various art projects. I have worked with young children on their reading skills and in understanding themes in literature.
