My comments on tutoring Florida Writes : I have some experience with teaching writing skills at the middle school level and as part of the GED.

My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.
I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I taught 2nd grade for three years in Hernando County, and now I am currently teaching 1st grade at a magnet school in Tampa. I was a homebound teacher for two years, tutored several different students one on one, and did the after school tutoring program for title one students as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I then held a position with the Pasco County School Board as a Site Manager for thier before and after school program. The program's philosophy was based on learning centers and enrichment activities that would further the childrens knowledge and enstill a love for learning. I worked for PLACE for 16yrs. and had a very large center with over 150 children. I then decided that I wanted to teach in a classroom setting and in 2006 I went and took the subject area test for pre K-3. I then applied and was hired on as a kindergarten teacher at Fox Hollow.
