I have been teaching for 13 years. I began teaching Social Studies classes at the high school level and taught every variety of student for 6 years. I then received my Masters in Special Education and began working with special needs students in the high school setting. While teaching Special Education students,I received my Specialists Degree in Special Education. I currently teach Social Studies to learning disabled, emotional behavior students, and Mildly Intellectually disabled students. I am also in charge of the tutoring program for the whole school in Social Studies. I have a lot of patience and am willing to try anything. I also teach 2 resource classes to the LD and EBD students where we work on their individual problems. Every student is different so I have to be a jack of all trades to work with them.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having moved between English, History, and Anthropology during my undergraduate years, I've surveyed quite an extensive portion of the social sciences. I have earned a major in Anthropology and a minor in History. The workloads for these courses included several 50+ page ethnographic reports in addition to the basic course curriculum. I've previously worked with children at the Kids on Campus program at OWC, teaching Songham Taekwando.

I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about.
