I am aware that children come from a variety of backgrounds and their home and outside environment contribute to their success. I am kind, very patient, and I have the ability to motivate students. I will always encourage and not bring students down with harsh words. I will help them find the learning style that suits them the best. A Little Bit About Me...

I have never been someone who "just gets it" when it comes to math or science, and so I understand more than many people who pursued degrees in these subjects just how puzzling they can be. Math seems like it is filled with "tricks" that seem impossible to know unless you were born with some innate gift. When I teach, I seek to show, step-by-step. how to think about a problem as more than a set of symbols on paper. I seek to impart the critical thinking skills that reveal why those tricks aren't tricks at all, but are instead a natural part of the grammar of math and science.
I graduated from Duke University in 2009 with a triple-major in Biomedical Engineering, Economics, and Mathematics. I have tutored in Economics and spent four years mentoring middle-schools students in Engineering as a Techtronics Fellow.

A Little Bit About Me...

In all my professional teaching experiences I strive to give my students the best education they deserve. I am a strong advocate of teaching phonics and reading skills in the early stage of learning. All students need the basic foundation of reading and writing. I taught in Elementary grades for many years and I went through all types of learning abilities. This experience allowed me to alter, modify, and structure instructions according to each individual's learning needs. As stated in my resume, I was appointed many times to conduct trainings for new and struggling teachers, especially in Reading and Writing. Most of the time I initiated and conducted my own tutorial programs after schools or during the weekends.

I hope that by slowly guiding them, asking pertinent questions, and offering encouragement that they will become more confident in what they are doing. I also like to impart new ways of how they can help themselves, tips and tricks on how to learn new things.
