I have discovered over the past year of substituting that I absolutely love teaching. Students are very comfortable with me as I am a very positive, friendly person who smiles a lot. As the parent of a college student, I was a tutor for 12 years. I know how to make learning fun and rewarding. I have a BS in Business and have worked in Mortgage and Banking for many years. This industry requires excellent written communication skills as well as practical math skills. I have been a substitute teacher for grades K - 12 for the past year in all subjects and have C-Best Certification. I have an MBA in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business. After getting my MBA, I worked as an associate at Bank of America in its Global Corporate and Investment Bank on the credit side for 5 years, then moved to working with PNC Bank as a Vice President/Relationship Manager within Corporate Banking for 3 years. I served on a Board of Directors in Washington DC for the mentoring of children, and have tutored throughout from elementary school to graduate school. I like to help others to reach that "Aha" moment where they come to understand a concept or solve a problem using analytical problem-solving skills. I have a practical, analytical approach to problem solving. I like the student to learn the key concepts, then apply the concepts to real life situations. I am friendly and very patient (being a mom has made me even more so!).

I began at Davis majoring in Physics, which led me to take many advanced level math and science courses, eventually settling on Economics, with which I became a master of statistics and through analytical papers developed excellent writing and grammar skills as well. I have not tutored extensively, but have a lot of experience teaching and coaching young people as I have been involved with youth sports and youth development programs for many years.
