I love teaching and learning. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from Northwestern, I went on to tutor students in Biblical Hebrew while earning my master's in theology. I enjoyed teaching so much that I decided to earn a master's degree in education. While working on that degree, I tutored students in English, reading and math at Educational Partners. I then spent a year working as a high school English teacher in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. While earning my most recent master's in English, I have taught English composition at WVU for the last three years. I have also taught creative writing.

During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes. I was a tutor for 1 year, teaching students about learining there trees by showing them out in the field and also teaching them latin names for these specific trees. In addition, I tutored students in Aquatic Ecology and used mnemonic devices to aid in memorization of these concepts. While at Appalachian State Universtiy, I would often organize study groups and review concepts regarding geography skills in lab and also in the lecture. During my undergrad I was involved with this tutoring for one full year.

During my 35-year of teaching, I spent 30 years teaching everything from Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Trig., Statistics. I was also a math department chair for 5+ years. In that capacity I wrote curriculum for local and county districts. I also lead my department and county in choosing texts. I worked on committees at the county level in training teachers. After my retirement, I realized that I missed teaching and working with young people and helping them prepare for ACT tests and classroom assignments.
