A Little Bit About Me...

I am a firm believer that the science subjects are not as difficult as many students are afraid they are. In my past tutoring experiences I like to allow the student to explain to me in their terms their understanding of the subject. I then fill in the gaps or revise their understanding. I am very patient and easy going person. I love the sciences. Helping someone to understand and seeing the glint in their eyes when they finally get it is why I love tutoring.
I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology with a concentration in microbiology. I also have minors in leadership and Chemistry. Therefore my understanding of the sciences and basic mathematics is quite extensive. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have a BA in Liberal Studies (Education) from Cal-State Northridge. During my years at this university, I took classes to work in the elementary school setting and as a result, have observed and participated in various elementary school settings from Kindergarten through the 5th grade. While I was there, I also helped tutor a special needs student who was in some of my classes who needed help with English and Linguistics. I am currently taking classes in early childhood education so that I can work with the younger children as well.
I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Therefore, I believe that the best way to teach a child is to do it in a way that will allow them to take the initiative in their own learning.
