I am a firm believer that the science subjects are not as difficult as many students are afraid they are. In my past tutoring experiences I like to allow the student to explain to me in their terms their understanding of the subject. I then fill in the gaps or revise their understanding. I am very patient and easy going person. I love the sciences. Helping someone to understand and seeing the glint in their eyes when they finally get it is why I love tutoring.
I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology with a concentration in microbiology. I also have minors in leadership and Chemistry. I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Therefore, I believe that the best way to teach a child is to do it in a way that will allow them to take the initiative in their own learning. I want the children to enjoy learning through discovery of the material in their own unique way (not how I want them to learn). I firmly believe in Howard Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences which states that everybody has their own way of learning whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic etc...
