Musical is one of my top subjects! I am fluent in music theory, music history, ear training, sight reading, jazz theory, jazz history, and improvisation.

It varies depending on the needs of the student. I am patient, but meticulous when it comes to music. I am very open about my philosophy that music is hard work, but also is a ton of fun.
I served as lead tenor saxophonist for the 56th Army Band Ft Lewis WA from 2000-2004. My musical diversity landed me in concert band, big band, jazz combo, Dixie-land band, Latin jazz combo, show band(pop/rock), among others. I received a jazz merit scholarship to play 1st tenor for UCO's top jazz band. I have been recognized for outstanding musicianship by the International Association of Jazz Educators multiple times. I have had the pleasure of performing with a Grammy Award winning Jazz Vocalist, and several other giants in the jazz business. I have tutored numerous students over the last 15 years along my military and educational pursuits.

Teaching is a means to find a student's misconceptions and correct them. I try to do this by engaging the students in conversation, asking them leading questions, or watching them work. I try to build classroom bonds, making communication easier. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored non-professionally for some time. Doing so has provided me with experience with a variety of students ranging from the first grade level to college freshman. I cater accordingly to each level of student, always exercising patience and approaching topics from multiple angles. I understand that some students are visual, kinesthetic, or auditory learners, or a combination of all three. I like the one on one aspect of tutoring. I enjoy teaching, but I really like tutoring because I get to know the child and am able to help him/her with his or her specific area of need. I like to make learning fun by playing learning games with the student. I am a Christian and I believe all children are unique and have their own abilities. A Little Bit About Me...

I have loved education since I was a child, and being the daughter of two educators gave me a lot of early learning opportunities. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Northeastern State Univeristy. I was a para professional for 5 years and worked with special education classrooms, then I taught for 5 years. I taught Pre-K and 2nd Grade, and I loved it.
I believe all children can learn. What I have learned is that tapping into an aspect of the child's interest and using that to build the foundation for their learning is the best way to teach. Piaget called the idea that kids learn by building upon what they already know "constructivism," and I consider myself a constructivist. I believe that all students learn differently and should be treated as so; with this being said i believe that each student should work at their own pace and should be helped to find strategies that help them learn.
I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education. During the past 4 years and working in the early childhood education industry I realized that many teachers were not getting the proper training that they needed to receive to help the children that they are serving. Once I realized this I decided to work on my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in hopes that i could be an Early Childhood College Professor and teach students the ins and outs of the early childhood industry.
