I have loved education since I was a child, and being the daughter of two educators gave me a lot of early learning opportunities. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Northeastern State Univeristy. I was a para professional for 5 years and worked with special education classrooms, then I taught for 5 years. I taught Pre-K and 2nd Grade, and I loved it.
I believe all children can learn. What I have learned is that tapping into an aspect of the child's interest and using that to build the foundation for their learning is the best way to teach. I am a one on one person when I teach or tutor. I homeschooled my son for one year before sending him to public school and found that to be quite rewarding. When I tutor a student, I like getting to know the student, their experiences and how their perceptions of topics that they will have to write about in the college arena.
