A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a substitute instructional assistant for the severely handicapped for the past six months. I have had a chance to help teach kids from the ages of 5 to 21, with all different types of diseases. I believe that every student, no matter what the situation,can learn with a little extra help. A Little Bit About Me...

I offer a tailored approach to each student, establishing the particular areas of strength and weakness. I aim to establish or reestablish interest in math and also to teach exam techniques. My tutoring is to focus and prior knowledge and to reinforce new information to the student. Mainly I want each student to know the concept of math not to just memorize formulas which they tend to forget. I focus in making a connection and in understanding the concept.
I have a degree in mathematics from UC Santa Cruz. I am familiar I have also taught elementary school mathematics at traditional high school and at a Charter High School in the Central Valley and in San Jose Ca. My desire is not to simply communicate information to students, but to accommodate material in such a way so that each individual student can learn a way that is easy and hopefully enjoyable. Not every student enjoys learning every subject, but I believe that an accommodating and understanding teacher, willing to work hard in order to make learning simple and useful, can give the student the necessary motivation and confidence to learn any subject well. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from Vanguard University of Southern California with my BA in English, I decided to enroll in the Education Program to receive my Single Subject English Teaching Credential. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I started tutoring students in subjects such as Math, English, Science, History, and Spanish, when I was merely a Junior in High School. I began tutoring K-8 at a local private elementary school. I then became employed at my high school as a tutor. At my high school, I was given the opportunity to work with grades 9-12. I worked in an after school program for three years where I was able to plan lessons and help students with their homework.
