I have master’s degrees in Mathematics and Statistics with related work in Physics and Astronomy. My 20 years in education includes teaching at various colleges and high schools providing instruction in Statistics, Physics, Calculus and College Algebra. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently obtained my MA degree in education and also hold a BS degree in Exercise Science. I am certified to teach grades Kindergarten through eighth grade in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. I am certified to teach language arts , science, math, and social studies. I have previously taught for the Robeson County school system in North Carolina teaching sixth grade science and social studies. I have also had experience working for a local tutoring center tutoring students having difficulty in reading and math.

I taught high-school math for 14 years, everything from Pre-Algebra to Calculus, in both public and private schools. I also have extensive writing experience, including for many newspapers, and am currently teaching Political Science at the Community-College level. Thus, I could tutor math, and/or any subject or assignment that required verbal and writing skills. I tutored UTK athletes in math and philosophy, and proctored Pre-Calculus at UTK as well.
My teaching style can be called old-fashioned: the best results come from patient, focused, disciplined time on task. To learn math one must work a variety of problems, and practice them diligently. My strength as a tutor is my ability to explain the algorithms in a way that students can easily grasp. This includes the vitally important requirement of why the problem is worked the way it is, not simply how.
