I lean more towards the Progressive style of teaching in that I teach my students the skills and strategies that will help them become successful in society. As a substitute teacher in the Bethalto school district, I feel I have been trained in all of the subjects necessary to tutor students. On a daily occurrence, I teach math, science, english, reading, social studies, etc. My specialties are english and reading. English was my minor in college and is something that has always been second nature to me. I was also a personal tutor for a child in the spring of '08 an fall of '08. His grades improved drastically from Ds and Fs, to Bs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have set-up courses in different manners and have come to the realization that students must be engaged. I create engagement in a variety of ways using differing types of assignments and projects to attempt to hook the students. I also understand the importance of developing a relationship with the students. Before students will accept your teaching they must see you knowledgeable and looking out for their best interests.
As a non-traditional student I was more mature when I returned to finish my degree than when I had originally gone to school. As a result I graduated Suma Cum Laude and was awarded the Competitive Graduate Award from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to begin my graduate education.
