During my senior year at Kalamazoo College I tutored in the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), as well as designing the curriculum for and delivering a free class in the same topic. I graduated as the top Philosophy student in my class after serving as an Honors Teaching Assistant in Philosophy of Law, and then continued on to undergo summer training with Teach For America. I have a very unique way of teaching. My key to success works on a system of discipline and rewards. I find creative ways to make the most mundane tasks fun to accomplish. I think the number on rule in teaching strategy should be finding a way to make the process enjoyable. I believe most kids that do poorly in school have an incredibly hard time putting their hearts into tutoring. In my professional experience, it is almost like pouring salt on the wound when they don't do well in school and then have to suffer through more torture after school.
