I have tutored before, I am currently tutoring kids at my high school everyday in the subject in which they need help in. Creating Confident Students via Creative Learning

I like to use hands on and/or creative teaching methods when possible. I believe that practice and persistence makes perfect. I would say that my teaching style is "outside of the box". My comments on tutoring English : My past courses have included Myth and Human Culture, Beauty in Western Culture, Linguistic Anthropology and Literature Based Research. My method of active reading has helped several peers become more efficient in their literature based courses. As for younger students, I have completed courses in child and adolescent psychology as well as human cognitive behaviors. I do not use a cookie cutter approach to teaching reading as science has proven these "systems" ineffective. If you are looking for an individualized approach to reading and to increasing the enjoyment of reading, I may be able to help.

As a returning adult college student, I have both classroom experience and life experience. My academic background in developmental and cognitive psychology as well as linguistics has helped me lead and tutor peers in small group sessions for hard to grasp topics and in pre-exam sessions for consolidation of the semesters material. When tutoring students I try to take a multidimensional approach. I attempt to show the child, explain it in my own words, have the student explain it in his/her own words, and then have them apply and practice so that the material really sticks.
